In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search,[1] news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.
As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic.
The acronym "SEOs" can refer to "search engine optimizers," a term adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign.
Through the years I have helped a lot of Realtors and Private businesses get their websites off the ground. Once the web site is up and running, it is then up to the owners to make a commitment if they expect to make some money from that site over the long term.
What I have found is that there are two kinds of web site customers.
1.) The first type is "The Tinkerer" who likes to micro-manage everything and becomes fascinated with the magical world of the world wide web. That's cool, I can help get you there.
2.) The second is the type that wants nothing to do with the mechanics of how it gets done. Just make it happen! .

3.) This invariably will come back to me in the forms of referrals. Not only referrals to build more web sites but usually there is a friendship that developes and the end result is more referrals in my mortgage business as well.
(For starters)
1.) Build the site. Please keep in mind that web sites can be super simple. Think of Google as todays modern day YellowPages. If you are not on there, your phone will not ring.
2.) Install a Google Sitemap. This is one way google will be sure to find you. You also need to submit your sitemap to Bing and Yahoo because those search engines important as well.
3.) Create a Google Adwords Campaign that fits your budget and will get you noticed on day one. I have a customer who spent $100 the first month and picked up $12,000 in business that month.
4.) Perform SEO, (search engine optimization) for the keywords and content of your site that will get you noticed. This is the beginning of a long term strategy that will get you more traffic later. (Please see the video to give you a feel for what SEO is.)
5.) Install Google Analytics which is an excellent way of tracking how much traffic you are receiving, what brought them in and how long they stayed on your site.
6.) Drip e-mail campaigns for future and past customers
7.) Maintain your site for you, tweaking content and monitoring your Adwords and Analytics on a monthly basis. Also you need to create backlinks in key places if you wish for your website to gain a following and keep growing.
8.) Don't Stop because a good web site has to be vibrant and not static, so you constantly need to tweak your own material. Also you need to starting building as many back links as possible.
